FAQs

What is an E-mountain bike?

An e-mountain bike is a mountain bike with a battery powered motor that provides assistance to the peddler.  It makes peddling up hills as easy or as hard as you want. It doesn’t have a ‘throttle’ like a motorcycle…just a wonderfully responsive assist when you peddle.

Who can rent an E-mountain bike from HHBR

You must be at least 16 years of age and have a legal guardian along or be 18 years of age to operate one of our bikes.  You must be at least 58 inches and be able to ride a bike confidently.  All riders must be present at the time of rental to receive the safety instruction.  The safety instruction is not optional.

Do I need to be fit to ride an E-mountain bike?

You need to be in good health.  Trail selection and gear selection will determine how hard you work on the bike.  Most of the trails will not make you out of breath unless you want to be.

What happens if it rains on my rental day?

Trails will generally remain open unless trail conditions are deemed unsafe.  We can delay start times to avoid weather. Call or email us if you are unsure.

What forms are required?

All riders must sign the rental agreement and release of liability waiver.  ID is required to ensure the name matches that on the waiver.  Minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian who is legally able to sign for them.  These forms are available when the bike is delivered.

What is your physical location

We are mobile and deliver the bikes to you at one of three different trail heads in the Hocking Hills region.  When you book your trail options will be listed.

What do I bring with me the day of my rental?

Weather appropriate clothing, cell phone and solid shoes.  We sell snacks, water, and backpacks if you don’t want to bring those with you.  You may bring your own helmet and eye protection or we will have those items for you to use.

How fast will the E-mountain bike go

The assist will go up to 20 miles an hour for all bikes except the Core -5, which goes up to 28 miles an hour.

How long with the battery last on the E-mountain bike rental?

There are lots of variables that will affect the battery life…your weight, terrain, wind and how much you pedal.  All rental bikes will have full batteries upon delivery so you will not run out of battery life during your 4 hour rental period.

How safe is an E-mountain bike

Don’t ride above your abilities.  Use caution and common sense.  Always wear a helmet and eye protection.  Basically, it’s just like riding a bike.  We will make sure you are confident before leaving the trail head.

What is your cancellation policy

72 hours prior to the departure time you may cancel and receive a full refund.  72 hours or less no refund will be given.  If you are unable to ride due to trails being closed inside of the 72-hour window, we can reschedule you for a different day or offer you a full refund.

What happens if I damage a bike?

You will be responsible for 100% of the cost of repairs or replacements.  Upon booking a damage deposit up to the amount of the rental will be placed as a hold on your credit card.  Upon return of the undamaged bike, the hold will be released.

Are walk ups possible

Yes, but only if we have availability.

Will there be cell service there

There is cell service at all trail heads. However, service will be spotty in certain locations at Wayne National Forest and Baileys.  Remember, you are in a forest!
